Build and Kill Zombies: How to Build a Car
Assemble the tutorial engine and Shredder, verify highlighted mounting points and launch a working vehicle before expanding the layout.
To build a car in Build and Kill Zombies, obtain the tutorial engine, open Build and mount it through the Vehicle tab. Add the Shredder through Weapons, then leave the menu and press F or DRIVE. Treat placement as a separate check after every purchase.
Follow the tutorial's installation sequence
Use the arrows at the base to find CAR PARTS and complete the roll for a Small Engine. Press B, select Vehicle and choose the engine you obtained. Place it at the highlighted point, then inspect the installed part on the car. A vehicle without a mounted engine does not launch, even when an engine exists in your inventory.
Continue to Weapons and mount the tutorial Shredder. The opening sequence teaches two different dependencies: the engine makes the vehicle launchable, and the weapon equips it for zombie contact. Do not replace the sequence with random rolls before you have completed these actions.
Check the layout before you leave Build
| Component | Verification | Problem avoided |
|---|---|---|
| Engine | Visible on a highlighted Vehicle mount | Owning an engine without installing it |
| Shredder | Visible after placement through Weapons | Launching with an unequipped tutorial weapon |
| Additional equipment | A usable mounting point is available | Buying equipment with no place to install it |
Look at the actual car rather than only the part selection menu. If a placement did not stick, repeat the mounting action and verify the visible result. Add one component at a time so a missing piece is easy to find. The highlighted points tell you where the selected component can be fitted; an empty area on the model is not automatically a valid mount.
Move from assembly to a test run
Leave Build and use F or the green DRIVE button. Once you launch, watch fuel and drive through zombie groups. Use RETURN when fuel empties. The first run confirms the basic arrangement can leave the garage; its distance and kills show what deserves attention next.
- If the car never launches, inspect the engine installation first.
- If the drive ends on empty fuel, preserve the working assembly and inspect fuel options.
- If zombie contact seems poor, inspect the weapon and its position before rebuilding the entire car.
Expand a functioning car in small revisions
CAR PARTS covers vehicle parts, while SUPPORTS and support-related Skills matter when planning additional weapon mounting. The part families include Engines, Fuels, Wheels, Blocks and Supports. Use Select Category to focus rolls on the family you actually need, then inspect unlocked items in Index.
Keep the first working layout as your baseline. Replace one component, launch again and compare the specific problem you intended to fix. Adding fuel and changing a weapon together may improve a run, but it prevents you from knowing which revision mattered. For a larger change, record the original arrangement before removing parts so you can rebuild it if the new layout proves awkward.
Car upgrades covers this revision process. Equip weapons and defenses focuses on mounting equipment once the vehicle itself works. Neither requires copying an expensive showcase before you have the parts to support it.
